Seller Rules

MyCollection is built around trust between collectors. When you sell through MyCollection, buyers should receive the item they were promised, in the condition described and within the expected timeframe. These Seller Rules explain the standards every seller must follow when listing and selling collectibles through MyCollection.

The basic rule

Be honest about what you are selling, show the actual item clearly, dispatch it when promised and communicate with the buyer if something goes wrong.

01

Seller verification

Sellers must complete the required seller verification process before they can receive payouts from sales made through MyCollection.

Verification and payout information is handled securely through the existing Stripe Connect system. Sellers may be asked by Stripe or MyCollection to provide information necessary to verify their identity or eligibility to receive payments.

Sellers must provide accurate information and must not attempt to sell using another person's identity or payment account. A seller whose verification is incomplete, restricted or requires additional information may be unable to receive payouts until the issue has been resolved.

MyCollection does not personally store sellers' bank account or card details.

02

You must have the right to sell the item

Sellers may only list items that they own or otherwise have the legal authority to sell.

Stolen, unlawfully obtained, counterfeit or prohibited items must not be listed.

Sellers are responsible for ensuring that an item can legally be sold, shipped, imported and exported where applicable. All listings must also comply with the separate Prohibited & Restricted Items policy.

03

Describe items accurately

Every listing must accurately represent the collectible being offered.

Sellers must not deliberately misrepresent any of the following, or any other characteristic that could materially affect a buyer's decision:

  • ·authenticity
  • ·condition
  • ·age
  • ·edition
  • ·manufacturer
  • ·creator
  • ·provenance
  • ·grading
  • ·certification
  • ·signatures
  • ·completeness
  • ·repairs or restoration
  • ·significant damage

If the seller is uncertain about something, the listing should say so rather than presenting an assumption as fact. Normal signs of age or use should not be hidden when they materially affect the item's condition or value.

04

Use honest photographs

Photographs should clearly represent the actual item being sold.

Sellers should provide enough photographs for a buyer to reasonably assess the item's condition. Significant marks, damage, wear, missing parts or other important defects should be photographed where practical and mentioned in the description.

Photographs must not be deliberately edited or manipulated in a way that misrepresents the item's appearance or condition. Stock photographs should not be used in place of photographs of the actual collectible where the condition or individual characteristics of that item matter.

05

Authenticity and reproductions

Sellers must not knowingly sell counterfeit items as genuine.

Where an item is a reproduction, replica, reissue or otherwise not an original, this must be made completely clear in the listing where such items are permitted under MyCollection's policies.

Sellers must not make unsupported claims of authentication, certification, grading or provenance. If an item has been professionally authenticated or graded, sellers should accurately identify the organisation responsible and must not alter or misrepresent the certification.

06

Pricing and offers

Sellers are responsible for setting their own asking prices.

Where offers are enabled, sellers may accept, decline or counter an offer using the existing MyCollection offer system. An accepted offer creates an obligation to proceed with the transaction once payment has been successfully completed.

Sellers should not accept an offer if they no longer have the item or are unwilling to sell it for the agreed amount.

07

MyCollection's 6% selling commission

MyCollection charges sellers a 6% platform commission on successful sales.

The 6% MyCollection commission remains clearly distinguishable from any applicable payment-processing charges. Before a seller confirms a listing or transaction where appropriate, the interface clearly communicates the applicable MyCollection commission.

On completed orders, sellers can see the existing financial breakdown showing:

  • ·Item price
  • ·Shipping where applicable
  • ·MyCollection commission
  • ·Payment processing costs where applicable
  • ·Seller proceeds

Payment-processing costs may vary depending on payment method, country and Stripe pricing, so specific processing percentages are not stated here.

08

Shipping charges

Sellers must set reasonable and accurate shipping charges.

Shipping charges should represent the genuine cost of packaging and delivering the item and must not be deliberately inflated to avoid marketplace fees or mislead buyers about the true purchase price. Sellers must only offer shipping to destinations they are prepared and legally able to serve.

09

Packaging

Sellers are responsible for packaging sold items appropriately.

Packaging should take into account the nature, value and fragility of the collectible. Collectibles should be reasonably protected against damage during normal handling and transportation. Where specialist packaging is appropriate for an item, sellers are expected to take reasonable precautions.

10

Dispatch

Sellers should dispatch paid orders within the timeframe stated on the listing or during checkout.

Once dispatched, the seller must update the order using the existing dispatch function. Where tracking is available, sellers should provide the correct carrier and tracking information. Sellers should retain appropriate proof of postage or dispatch until the transaction has been completed and any applicable dispute period has passed.

Sellers must not mark an order as dispatched before it has actually been handed to the carrier or collected by the buyer.

11

Tracking

Tracking is strongly recommended for posted items and may be required by MyCollection for certain transactions or circumstances. Sellers should consider tracked and appropriately insured delivery for valuable collectibles.

Where tracking information is provided, it must relate to the buyer's actual order. False or deliberately misleading tracking information is prohibited.

12

Collection in person

Where a seller offers collection in person, both buyer and seller should agree on a suitable collection arrangement through MyCollection. Sellers should not mark an item as collected until the handover has taken place.

MyCollection may provide an order confirmation process for in-person transactions. Users should take sensible personal safety precautions when meeting someone they do not know.

13

Communication with buyers

Sellers are expected to respond reasonably to questions relating to an active order.

If there is a delay or problem, the seller should tell the buyer as soon as reasonably possible. Keep transaction-related communication within MyCollection's existing messaging system where possible so that there is a record of important conversations if a dispute occurs.

Sellers must not use messaging to threaten, harass, abuse or pressure buyers.

14

Cancelling a sale

Sellers should not routinely cancel completed sales because they have changed their mind, received a better offer elsewhere or decided the selling price was too low.

If an item is unavailable, damaged before dispatch or cannot legally be shipped to the buyer, the seller should notify the buyer and use the appropriate cancellation process. Any refund must be processed through MyCollection's existing payment and refund system.

Sellers must not attempt to refund marketplace transactions privately in order to bypass MyCollection.

15

Do not bypass MyCollection transactions

Sellers must not use MyCollection listings, offers or messaging primarily to move a transaction outside the platform in order to avoid the 6% MyCollection commission or MyCollection's transaction protections. This includes asking a buyer to pay privately after discovering the item through MyCollection for the purpose of avoiding marketplace fees.

Repeated attempts to circumvent marketplace transactions may result in selling restrictions.

16

Problems with an order

If a buyer reports that an item has not arrived, has arrived damaged, appears counterfeit or differs significantly from its description, sellers are expected to cooperate with the MyCollection dispute process. Sellers may be asked to provide relevant evidence, including:

  • ·listing photographs
  • ·dispatch information
  • ·tracking
  • ·proof of postage
  • ·messages
  • ·photographs
  • ·authentication or grading information where relevant

Disputes are not automatically decided in favour of either buyer or seller. Existing disputes continue to go through the MyCollection moderation process.

17

Reviews

Buyers and sellers may leave reviews only in accordance with the existing MyCollection review system following eligible transactions. Sellers must not manipulate reviews, create fake transactions for reviews, threaten buyers over reviews or offer improper incentives in exchange for positive ratings.

18

Repeated problems and selling restrictions

MyCollection may review or restrict selling privileges where an account shows repeated or serious problems. Examples may include:

  • ·repeated failure to dispatch
  • ·excessive seller cancellations
  • ·counterfeit listings
  • ·misleading descriptions
  • ·false tracking information
  • ·repeated unresolved buyer complaints
  • ·attempts to avoid marketplace fees
  • ·prohibited items
  • ·abusive behaviour
  • ·fraud or suspected fraudulent activity

Depending on the circumstances, MyCollection may remove individual listings, temporarily restrict selling, require additional verification or suspend marketplace access. Serious violations may result in account suspension. Transaction and financial records are not deleted simply because selling privileges are restricted.

19

Seller responsibility

MyCollection provides the marketplace through which collectors can buy and sell.

Sellers remain responsible for their listings, the accuracy of the information they provide, their items, appropriate packaging and their compliance with applicable laws and marketplace policies. MyCollection's policies do not replace any legal obligations that apply to a seller.

Not sure about a listing?

If you are unsure whether an item can be sold on MyCollection or need help with an existing sale, contact MyCollection before proceeding. You can also read the Prohibited & Restricted Items policy.

These Seller Rules do not replace any legal obligations that apply to a seller. MyCollection may update these rules from time to time. Continued use of MyCollection as a seller constitutes acceptance of the current version.
